The Medical Faculty owns 5 lecture classrooms, 42 pre-clinical department classrooms, 13 clinical-diagnostic department classrooms, and 18 clinical department classrooms, providing 2013 places on 4213
m2 in total. In the building of the Dean's office, there is a computer classroom with free Internet access. In addition, the Faculty owns 85 laboratories and specialized classrooms with a total area of 2951
m2.
The University Hospital has 406 beds in 116 hospital rooms with a total area of 3286
m2. The Hospital also includes 8 operating theatres on 256 m2 and 23 specialized consultative offices.
In order to train students, interns, and graduate students, various regional hospitals and outpatients' establishments are used.
The Library of the Medical Faculty is free of charge. It has 2 spacious reading rooms, a bookbindery, and 7 storage rooms. The collection counts over 40 000 volumes. The Library is subscribed to more than 250 medical journals published in Bulgarian and foreign languages. Book processing is facilitated by the internationally used software GLAS, specially created for medical libraries. Readers have access to an online catalogue through 6 computers linked in a local network.
The equipment includes audio and video appliances, 43 projectors, and 5 photocopiers. Lectures in the classrooms are facilitated by a multimedia system.
The Medical Faculty owns a language laboratory with 20 audio recorders and 2 sound systems.
The Faculty also owns 85 computers, on 72 of which is done research and academic work, and 39 printers, 9 of which are laser. Specialised software is installed. Lecturers have unlimited access to the Internet.
The video appliances include a video room, 12 cameras, 4 sets of videotape recorders with monitors, 4 appliances for monitoring surgical and endoscopic procedures, and 4 video-microscopic systems.
The Faculty and the Hospital own all types of up-to-date laboratory and diagnostic appliances such as immuno-analysers of cell immunity, chromatography analysers, clinicochemical and haemato-gas analysers, electromyographers, electroencephalographers, therapeutic lasers, all kinds of endoscopic appliances, operating microscopes, and specialized computer-operated appliances.
The sport facilities of the Medical Faculty include 2 gymnasiums, a fitness room, a football field, basketball, volleyball and track courts, a tennis court with Olympic dimension, and a covered swimming pool.
