In contrast to other university disciplines, which can be studied part-time or by correspondence, the main form of education in the Faculty of Medicine is the full-time tuition, determined by the requirements of the specialty.
The full-time tuition in medicine traditionally includes two stages: preclinical and clinical. During the first and second year, students are trained in fundamental disciplines (biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, etc). In the third year, students start studying clinical disciplines. In the sixth year of their studies, students go through practical training ending with state final examinations in Internal Diseases, Surgical Diseases, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Children's Diseases, Hygiene, Infectious Diseases, Social Medicine and Epidemiology.
Methods and forms of education include traditional approaches - lectures and practical exercises. Many departments also employ modern methods of training such as discussion in small groups, role plays, practical training on phantoms, multimedia, etc.
Students are evaluated both currently and at the end of each semester through practical and theoretical exams. The final evaluation includes examinations in accordance with the syllabus.
