The Faculty of Medicine provides different kinds of sport facilities: fitness and aerobics rooms, two gyms, football, basketball and volleyball courts, running tracks, and a rehabilitation center with a sauna.
Sport activities take several forms: formal training, competitive activities, and active relaxation after classes.
The syllabus includes 90 hours of the academic discipline called student sports, held 2 hours per week over three semesters.
The Faculty of Medicine proves a module system, based on two principles: elective mandatory principle (during the first two academic years) and fully elective principle beginning in their third year of study. The system includes the following modules:
-
Sport games: basketball, volleyball, football, and table tennis
-
Gymnastics: shaping, step aerobics, etc.
-
Fitness: body building and force sports
-
Swimming
Competitive activities are organized by the University Sports Club Thracia, which is a member of the University Sports Association.
The University Sports Club includes the following teams: basketball (for men and women), skiing (for men and women), force triathlon (for men), volleyball (for men), and football (for men).
During the winter and the summer, the Sports Club provides ski and water sports instruction.
Dear current and future students, take the opportunity to convince yourselves in the immortality of the ancient aphorism: HEALTHY SPIRIT IN A HEALTHY BODY!
