Course Syllabus in Medical Physics

Annotation

The academic discipline Medical physics is taught during the first semester, first academic year, of the six yearlong studies in medicine. This course is designed to develop advanced knowledge on the general principles of electricity, magnetism, sound, electromagnetic waves, mechanics, thermal physics, nuclear physics and particle beams in order to better understand their use in medicine. The physical aspect of some life processes like blood circulation, biomechanics, breathing, thermal regulation, sound and light perception are also studied. The course syllabus includes 45 hours lectures and 30 hours practical exercises. During the laboratory exercises the students acquire practical skills in carrying out research studies in the majority of areas dealt with in the lectures. Each theme from the theoretic course enlisted below is read for 1 hour.

Course Syllabus in Biophysics

Annotation

The academic course of Biophysics is aimed at developing deep insight into the physical aspect of biological structures and phenomena such as biomembranes, membrane transport, generation of resting and action potentials, muscle contraction, impact of various physical stress factors on living organisms. This discipline is taught during the second semester, first academic year, of the six year- long study in medicine. The course syllabus includes 30 hours lectures and 30 hours practical exercises. During the practical exercises the students acquire practical skills in carrying out research studies in the majority of areas dealt with in the lectures. Each theme from the theoretic course enlisted below is read for 1 hour.
